Opened on December 14, 1994, at Rua do Amparo nº 59 - Amparo / Olinda / PE, in a building with eclectic characteristics of late 19th century architecture, in colonial style, acquired by the Pró-Memoria Foundation and IPHAN on 15 August 1984.
MAMULENGO'S MUSEUM - TIRIDÁ SPACE, is an artistic, playful and magical space. Artistic for the quantity and quality of its wonderful collection (approximately 1,200 old and contemporary dolls), playful for what it offers to its audience and magician because through the dolls the diverse visitor or researcher penetrates a free and provocative world, with its own language. Due to structural problems in the Museum's headquarters, where cracks appeared in the walls due to the accommodation of the ground and excess groundwater, the Museu do Mamulengo, from September 2006, will start working at Rua de São Bento 344 - Ribeira / Olinda / PE. As the first popular doll museum in Brazil and Latin America, it promotes the Mamulengo and its tradition as a unique and expressive puppet theater in the region. The creation of the Mamulengo Museum's main collection came in the 1970s, when the participants of the Mamulengo Só-laughter Group decided to invest in the acquisition of pieces by the "Mamulengo masters" who died and without leaving heirs of their art were sold as pieces of art. decoration.
