The Big Fountain is an illustrated postcard of the cultural village of Alte. Environmental heritage, source of crystalline waters surrounded by a majestic grove, picnic spot with tables and stone benches, is a leisure destination that invites to beautiful walks and picnics. For centuries, the streams along the river, supplied by the Fonte Grande, fed the village, served the esparto, were used by the washerwomen and watered the gardens around it. Today, after several improvements, the Fonte Grande is a real swimming pool, used by many to bathe in its clear waters that give health to the body.
Throughout the year you will be visited by thousands of tourists, both domestic and foreign, attracted by the beauty of the bucolic landscape. It is next to the Fonte Grande that the traditional festivities of May 1 and folklore festivals are held, which give movement, color and joy to the whole village of Alte.
