This monumental channel of the early nineteenth century stretches for 202 kilometers along the courses of the Rideau and Cataraqui rivers, following a path from the south, from Ottawa to the port of Kingston, located on Lake Ontario.
It is the only channel in the expansion period of these engineering works in North America - early 19th century - that not only remains operational throughout its original course but also preserves almost all of its original structures intact.
