The René Magritte museum was opened in 1999 in the house that was surrendered for 24 years, located at Jette.
René Magritte et son épouse, Georgette, louent le rez-de-chaussée from 1930 to 1954. L'artiste y réalise la moitié de son œuvre (800 tableaux), s'inspirant abondamment de son intérieur. L'appartement servait également de quartier général au groupe surréaliste bruxellois that often is Magritte (Louis Scutenaire, Paul Nougé, Marcel Mariën ...).
The ethe fidèlement reconstituted with the meubles et objets originaux, et les autres étages du Musée proposent un exposition biographique sur l'artiste: documents d'archives, objets personnels, photographies et œuvres retracent chronologiquement le parcours personnel et pictorial de Magritte.
