The palace was, according to chronicles of the time, one of the most remarkable buildings of the kingdom, having as main constructions the cloister of the Renaissance, the Room of the Queen, the refectory and the royal library, being this one of the first of the country.
Currently, what remains of the palace is only the Ladies' Gallery, representative of Manueline style, but with traces of the Renaissance and that survived due to its use for Military Train. This one is composed of a ground floor, of rectangular plan, where subsists the Gallery, an enclosed pavilion and the porch. Upstairs there are two halls and a Moorish style lobby. Outside there is the turret, this consists of two floors and ending in a hexagonal pinnacle with a Manueline door.
Of the sixteenth century building, begun around 1470, only the Ladies' Gallery, restored already in this century, remains. The three-storey Manueline-Mudejar tower-counter is noteworthy.
