The street has been known since the construction of the fernandina wall.
In Elvas.
In the background was the Port of Olivenza (largely destroyed in the 17th century). At the moment exists the Door of Olivença of the wall seiscentista. Known in 1543 as the best street of Elvas by the traveling archbishop of Lisbon D. Fernando de Menezes.
