The existence of another bridge makes possible a pleasant natural swimming pool of the Sever river, much appreciated and frequented over the years.
This bridge is even considered one of the most perfect engineering works
known in the Alentejo, and on its origin there are several theories.
Popularly it is nicknamed "Roman Bridge", even by the proximity to the Roman City of Ammaia (parish of S. Salvador de Aramenha), and also by the presence of Roman materials in its vicinity.
