The Castle of Mértola, in the Alentejo, is located in the village, Parish and Municipality of the same name, District of Beja, Portugal.
In a dominant position over the village, at the confluence of the Oeiras river with the left bank of the Guadiana river, it controlled the latter's passage.
At present it is part of the Planície Dourada Tourism Region.
