Questo Largo deve il suo nome all'Eremo di S. Sebastião che si trovava qui, costruito alla fine del XVII secolo.
Al centro, si erge il monumento a Bernardo de Passos (1847 - 1901), datato settembre del 1957, in onore dell'illustre poeta di São Francisco.
