Catavento is an interactive museum dedicated to science, located at Palácio das Indústria, in the city of São Paulo. The museum is divided into 4 spaces: universe, life, ingenuity and society, in an area of 4,000 m² with 250 installations. Aimed at the young public, it was founded in March 2009 by the city's culture and education departments, with an investment of twenty million reais after 14 months of construction.
Although the museum began its operations in 2009, the São Paulo City Hall was already discussing its creation since 2005, when it sent Bill 469/2005 to the São Paulo City Council to authorize the executive to set up the Catavento Foundation. The bill was only approved and transformed into law 14,130 in 2006, after a year of processing and alteration of the original text by politician Chico Macena, who advocated the creation of the Catavento Foundation to create and administer the Children's Museum, not just a center. of development of children and adolescents.
