In the Middle Ages, the Roman bridges were reused, and others were built, since they were important for the circulation of the commerce of the region and its inhabitants.
The Ponte do Arco, on the Vizela River, is associated with Vila Fria, where a section of the flagstone appears on the left bank, and up the hill, followed by Boavista, Sardoal, Burgo, Rua, Pombeiro, Picôto, Tâmega, for Amarante.
It still conserves in its guards an arc of limitation of the couto of Pombeiro, of the century. XVIII.
The presence of Roman bridges in Felgueiras is the testimony that this land was inserted in a strategic region for the Romans, through which an important Roman route of Braga and Caladuno passed.
